  • On Thursday, June 4th, the Texas softball team captured its second consecutive national championship after beating Texas Tech, 4-1, in the Women’s College World Series. The clincher came in Game 2 in the best-of-3 championship series before a crowd of 12,308 at Devon Park in Oklahoma City. The Longhorns (53-12) also beat the rival Red Raiders (61-10) en route to claiming their first national title last season.
  • Trailing 1-0 after four innings, Texas took the lead for good with two runs in the fifth inning courtesy of a throwing error with the bases loaded. Kayden Henry homered to lead off the seventh and Leighann Goode singled to bring home the final run. Teagan Kavan struck out five in the final two innings to back a strong start from Citaly Gutierrez. Kavan became the first two-time Most Outstanding Player in the history of the tournament. First baseman Katie Stewart joined Kavan on the 12-player WCWS All-Tournament Team.
  • “This one is sweet,” Texas coach Mike White said after going back-to-back. “It came from all the players – their heart. They worked their tails off the whole time. We had people step up who needed to step up and they did. It means so much because you know how hard you work … It’s priceless.”
  • “Bobbleheads are the ultimate way to celebrate a team’s championship, and these bobbleheads will be the ultimate way for Longhorns fans to commemorate the Texas softball team’s 2026 national championship,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said. “We’re excited to be unveiling a bobblehead celebrating Texas’ second national title in a row in softball. These will be must-haves for fans of the Texas Longhorns!”
