Twins manager Paul Molitor was asked before Fridayβs game about the bobblehead giveaway in his honor.
βI havenβt seen it,β he said. βI didnβt even know they were doing one until I saw it on the board last homestand.β
As it turned out, the bobblehead looked more like comedian Norm Macdonald than the hall of famer in the Twinsβ dugout. When someone mentioned how rare it is for the bobblehead to resemble the honoree, Molitor shook his head.
βIt doesnβt happen very often,β Molitor said. βI think thatβs part of the intrigue β to see how bad they can get it. Wait βtil you see the one Milwaukeeβs giving out when weβre down there (June 26-28). That oneβs not too good.β
In the Twinsβ version, Molitor is in his customary managing pose at the top step of the dugout. In the Brewersβ version, Molitor is sliding.
βItβs a bobblehead doing a headfirst slide, thatβs all I can tell you,β Molitor said. βIt looks like itβs doing some kind of 2 1/2 gainer into the pool.β
