MILWAUKEE – Today, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled the first bobblehead of Abdul El-Sayed, who won election to the United States Senate representing Michigan on Tuesday, November 3rd. With his victory over Republican Mike Rogers, El-Sayed became the first Muslim and first Egyptian American elected to the U.S. Senate. The first Abdul El-Sayed bobblehead is being produced exclusively by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum and is part of a new series featuring some of the most requested political bobbleheads related to the 2026 Midterm elections and the upcoming 2028 elections.
Standing on a circular red, white, and blue, stars and stripes base bearing his name, the smiling El-Sayed bobblehead is wearing a dark suit with an open-collared white shirt with his hands in his pockets. Each bobblehead is individually numbered to 2,026 and they are only available through the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum’s Online Store. The bobbleheads, which are expected to ship in April, are $30 each plus a flat-rate shipping charge of $8 per order.
Born in Rochester Hills, Michigan, the 42-year-old El-Sayed graduated from the University of Michigan and was a Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford, where he earned a doctorate in public health. He then earned his medical degree from Columbia University and became an assistant professor of epidemiology at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. He was the executive director of the Detroit Health Department from 2015 to 2017, and from 2023 to 2025 he served as director of the Wayne County Department of Health, Human & Veterans Services.
A progressive Democrat, El-Sayed defeated U.S. representative Haley Stevens in the 2026 Michigan Democratic Senate primary with 48.5 percent of the vote. With Democratic incumbent Gary Peters not seeking a third term, El-Sayed and Republican former representative Mike Rogers were the nominees for their respective parties. It was the only open Democratic-held Senate seat up for election in a state won by Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election. Republicans have not won a Senate race in Michigan since 1994. The election was the most expensive in Michigan history, with over $243 million in spending.
El-Sayed defeated Rogers by about seven percentage points, according to unofficial results, with the Associated Press calling the race at 2:27 a.m. on Wednesday. Rogers, a former congressman and FBI agent who narrowly lost the 2024 Senate race to Elissa Slotkin, and his allies outspent El-Sayed and his supporters by roughly 3 to 2. Just days before the election, Stevens crossed party lines to endorse Rogers. El-Sayed campaigned on universal health care, tackling medical debt, and higher taxes on billionaire wealth.
“We are excited to produce this first bobblehead of newly elected U.S. Senator Abdul El-Sayed to commemorate his historic victory,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said. “This bobblehead is sure to be popular among Senator El-Sayed supporters.”
