From Seattlepi.com – As spring training training creeps closer, the Seattle Mariners released their 2016 special events calendar Tuesday along with game times for the upcoming season.
In what’s sure to draw huge crowds, Ken Griffey Jr. weekend is set for Aug. 5-7, with the first 20,000 fans arriving Aug. 5 receiving a Griffey bobblehead. Griffey’s pre-game jersey retirement ceremony is Aug. 6, with the first 20,000 fans receiving Griffey Hall of Fame retirement plaques, while Aug. 7 the first 20,000 attending get a replica jersey of the iconic center fielder.

Griffey, along with former catcher Mike Piazza, is set for induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame on July 24 in Cooperstown, New York after “The Kid” received a record percentage of votes.
