Kansas State Wildcats Willie the Wildcat Push-Up Counter Bobblehead Unveiled Following 394 Push-Up Performance

Today, following Willie the Wildcat’s 394 push-ups that went viral in Kansas State’s football game on Saturday, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled an officially licensed, limited-edition Willie the Wildcat Kansas State Push-Up Counter Bobblehead. The special edition bobblehead featuring the team’s mascot doing a push-up with a built in push-up counter is being produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, an official licensee of Kansas State University.

• In a push-up position on a Kansas State logo base that replicates the platform that Willie the Wildcat does push-ups on, the bobblehead is wearing a purple No. 0 football jersey. The front of the block base reads ‘K-STATE” with the logo and has a push-up counter to track the Wildcats’ push-up total during each game.
• On Saturday, September 5th, the Kansas State football team opened the 2026 season with a convincing 71-3 non-conference victory over Nicholls State at Bill Snyder Family Stadium in Manhattan, Kansas. It was the most points by a K-State team since the Wildcats scored a school-record 76 points against Ball State in 2000. As is tradition, after each K-State score, Willie the Wildcat was lifted onto a raised platform to do a push-up for each point the Wildcats had scored in the game. When the contest mercifully ended, the exhausted mascot had powered through 394 less-than-perfect push-ups.
• The first costumed Willie mascot appeared in 1947. Willie is typically depicted as having a human body with a giant wildcat head. In 1989, newly hired football coach Bill Snyder wanted a new logo to change the image of the program. Tom Bookwalter, a K-State art professor, created a stylized wildcat’s head known as the Powercat that was added to the football team’s helmets. By the mid-1990s, the Powercat replaced the cartoon-style Willie as K-State’s primary logo. Along with his push-ups after each touchdown and field goal, Willie has also been known to crowd surf. On the scoreboard at Bill Snyder Family Stadium, it displays the total number of push-ups that Willie has done since the beginning of the season. In addition to the time-honored push-up tradition, Willie also leads the crowd in his signature K-S-U chant in which he moves his arms and legs to form a K-S-U and then fist pumps to signal the crowd to yell “Wildcats!” three times in a row.
