MILWAUKEE, Wi., December 6, 2017 – – Today, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled a Limited Edition bobblehead commemorating Johns Hopkins University’s nine NCAA Division 1 Men’s Lacrosse National Championships. The bobblehead features Johns Hopkins’ mascot, Jay, holding a lacrosse stick. Jay is standing on a logo-shaped base with replica National Championship trophies for each of the school’s titles in the modern NCAA era. The commemorative backing lists the Championship years.
The bobbleheads, which are individually numbered to only 216, are only available in the National Bobblehead HOF and Museum’s Online Store. They are $40 each with a flat rate shipping cost of $8 and are in stock now.
Johns Hopkins’ nine NCAA Division 1 Championship titles are second most among all schools since the NCAA began holding Division I tournaments in 1971, trailing only the Syracuse Orange’s ten titles. The Blue Jays won the NCAA Division 1 title in 1974, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1984, 1985, 1987, 2005 and 2007.
The Johns Hopkins lacrosse team was founded in 1883 and has won a total of 44 national championships, making it the most storied program in college lacrosse. The Blue Jays won six ILA National Championships between 1891 and 1903 before taking 29 USILA Championships from 1929 through 1970.
“These bobbleheads are the perfect way for Blue Jays fans to commemorate the school’s phenomenal lacrosse program,” said Phil Sklar, Co-Founder and CEO of the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum. “These will be cherished collectibles that celebrate Johns Hopkins’ rich lacrosse history, and with the holidays coming up, they will make a great gift for any Blue Jays fan.”
