MILWAUKEE – This morning, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled the first Garbage Pail Kids Bobbleheads in conjunction with the 40th anniversary of the popular trading card brand and to celebrate Halloween. The first series in the bobblehead collection features five bobbleheads: Adam Bomb, Dead Ted, Dead Ted 40th Anniversary Edition, Leaky Lindsay 40th Anniversary Edition, and a 40th Anniversary Garbage Pail Kids Bobble Logo. The bobbleheads are being produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, an official licensee of Garbage Pail Kids.

The collection includes a GPK 40th Anniversary bobble logo featuring Adam Bomb’s exploding head on a blue rectangular base. Sitting on an orange, circular base bearing his name, there is an additional Adam Bomb bobblehead where he is pressing the button on a remote-control detonator while his head explodes. The Dead Ted bobbleheads feature the original version as well as a 40th Anniversary version. The snot-covered Leaky Lindsay 40th Anniversary Bobblehead is holding a cupcake with lighted 4-0 candles.

The bobbleheads, which will be individually numbered to 2,025, are currently available exclusively through the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum’s Online Store. The bobbleheads are $40 each and $30 for the Bobble Logo, plus a flat-rate shipping charge of $8 per order. The first series of five bobbleheads are scheduled to ship in March.

Created by renowned cartoonist Art Spiegelman, Garbage Pail Kids exploded onto the scene in 1985 with their outrageous humor and gross-out charm. Inspired by the success of Topps’ Wacky Packages, the new sticker cards pushed parody to the next level—this time targeting the wildly popular Cabbage Patch craze. Kids everywhere couldn’t get enough, even as schools and parents tried to ban them, turning Garbage Pail Kids into a full-blown cultural phenomenon.

For forty years, Garbage Pail Kids has oozed a filthy throughline between the worlds of art, comics, graphic design, comedy, and popular culture. From the beginning of the brand, Garbage Pail Kids’ uniquely twisted sensibility was honed by artists who developed their style in the world of comix, comics, and Mad Magazine. You can identify the influence of Garbage Pail Kids’ blend of irreverence and parody in contemporary art, including Keith Shore, Alex Pardee, Ron English, Matt Gondek, and KAWS, among many others.

“We’re thrilled to be unveiling the first bobbleheads featuring the Garbage Pail Kids in celebration of the iconic trading card franchise’s 40th anniversary,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said. “A phenomenon in the 1980s, the popularity of Garbage Pail Kids has not waned 40 years later, and these bobbleheads will be a must-have for GPK fans everywhere!”
