This morning, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled an officially licensed Clemson Tigers vs. South Carolina Gamecocks Rivalry Bobblehead ahead of Saturday’s game between the two rivals.  The special edition bobblehead is being released in conjunction with the 122nd meeting between which will be played on Saturday, November 29th in Columbia, South Carolina.

The bobblehead features Clemson’s mascot The Tiger and South Carolina’s mascot Cocky with a replica of the Palmetto Trophy and commemorates the longtime football rivalry, which is better known as the Palmetto Bowl. The bobblehead is available exclusively from the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, an official licensee of Clemson University and the University of South Carolina.

  • The bobbleheads are now available in the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum’s Online Store at this link.
  • The bobbleheads, which are expected to ship in May, are $50 each plus a flat-rate shipping charge of $8 per order.
  • Each bobblehead will be individually numbered to 2,025.
  • The bobblehead is being released in conjunction with the 122nd meeting between the teams on Saturday, November 29th at Memorial Stadium in Clemson, South Carolina.
  • Standing side-by-side on a football field base that reads “TIGERS” in one end zone and “GAMECOCKS” in the other end zone, Clemson mascot The Tiger and South Carolina mascot Cocky are wearing their respective uniforms while giving the No. 1 signal and holding a football adorned with their school logo. Positioned in between The Tiger and Cocky is a replica of the Palmetto Trophy. The front of the base features the logos for each team.
  • Often listed as one of the best rivalries in college football, the annual game between Clemson and South Carolina is considered the most important sporting event in the state. Sometimes dubbed the “Battle of the Palmetto State,” it was unofficially called the Palmetto Bowl beginning in the 1950s and has been known officially as the Palmetto Bowl since 2014 from the state’s nickname. It was first played in 1896 and every year from 1909 to 2019 (it came to an end in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic). With 111 consecutive years of games, it was the second-longest uninterrupted rivalries in FBS Division I college football history. Up until 1959, the game was played during the State Fair in Columbia and referred to as “Big Thursday” – a state holiday. Since 1962, the game has been held in late November, usually on Thanksgiving weekend. The game has never been contested anywhere besides Columbia or Clemson. The Tigers lead the all-time series 73-44-4. Clemson has won eight of the last ten meetings, but fell to South Carolina last season 17-14.
  • The Palmetto Bowl Trophy was first awarded in 2015. It replaced the Hardee’s Trophy, which had been presented to the game’s annual winner the previous 30 years. The palmetto tree-shaped trophy has a circular base, which features the logos of both schools and scores of the games. Since 2015, the two schools compete in the Palmetto Series, which consists of more than a dozen athletic, head-to-head matchups each school year.
  • “We’re excited to unveil this limited-edition Clemson vs. South Carolina Rivalry Bobblehead ahead of tomorrow’s game in Columbia,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said. “This bobblehead will be the perfect way for Clemson and South Carolina fans, alumni, students, faculty, and staff to show off their school and state pride!”
  • The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, which is located at 170 S. 1st. St. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, opened to the public on February 1st, 2019. The HOF and Museum also produces high quality, customized bobbleheads for retail sale as well as organizations, individuals, and teams across the country.
