This morning, following BYU’s historic win over 2nd-ranked Notre Dame which moved the Cougars to the No. 2 ranking, the National Bobblehead unveiled an officially licensed, limited-edition BYU Cougars Cosmo the Cougar Cosmobile Bobblehead. The bobblehead is the first featuring Cosmo the Cougar riding in the Cosmobile and is being produced by the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, an official licensee of Brigham Young University.
Following BYU’s win over Notre Dame, the Cougars moved up to the #2 spot in the AP Top 25 Rankings and the #3 spot in the AFCA Coaches Poll. BYU is one of six remaining unbeaten teams in the College Football FBS. This week, the Cougars travel to Orlando to take on UCF at 1:30pm MDT.
- The bobbleheads, which are expected to ship in April, are now available at this link.
- Each bobblehead will be individually numbered to only 2,026.
- The bobbleheads are $40 each plus an $8 flat-rate shipping charge per order.
- Wearing a blue No. 00 football jersey with his name on the back, the Cosmo the Cougar bobblehead is riding in his Cosmobile, which is adorned with BYU logos and blue stripes.
- On October 15th, 1953, Cosmo the Cougar made his first appearance in front of BYU fans, flying into LaVell Edwards Stadium on a parachute. The name Cosmo was chosen because BYU had recently been selected as a cosmopolitan school. Almost 75 years later, Cosmo has shown no signs of slowing down as he continues to wow crowds with his show-stopping stunts and acrobatics. A team of people, Team Cosmo, helps him with his antics. In 2020 Cosmo won the Sirius XM Bracket Championship and was named National Champion of Mascots.
- Known as the most athletic mascot in college sports, Cosmo drives around in the Cosmobile, a custom-equipped transport van that includes a 1,600-watt, 12-speaker stereo system, a dance stage on top, a basketball hoop, a variety of specialty lights, a fog machine, several sirens, and a cordless public address system for crowd hype and announcements.
- Originally introduced in the early 2000s and updated through several iterations, the van acts as a mobile stage and billboard for BYU athletics. It carries Team Cosmo to 450 to 500 annual public functions, campus events, parades, school assemblies, and community outreach visits.
- “We’re excited to unveil this very unique bobblehead of Cosmo the Cougar and his stylish Cosmobile, which has been a staple on the BYU campus for a quarter century,” National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum co-founder and CEO Phil Sklar said. “After BYU’s big victory over Notre Dame, the Cougars and Cosmobile-riding Cosmo and riding sky high so far in the 2026 football season. This bobblehead is a must-have for Cougar fans everywhere and we are sure that BYU supporters will want one for their collection.”
