Milwaukee swept the Baltimore Bullets in the best-of-seven series to claim the 1971 NBA Championship. The Bucks were led by MVP Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (Lew Alcindor) and featured three other Bucks who have since had their jersey retired by the team: Oscar Robertson, Bob Dandridge and Jon McGlocklin.
Tomorrow, the Bucks will “Return to the Mecca” to face the Boston Celtics as part of the team’s 50th Anniversary celebration. The Bucks called the MECCA,now known as the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena, home from their inaugural season in 1968 until 1988. During that time, the Bucks had a 582-209 home record, made 16 playoff appearances, won 12 division championships, two conference titles, and went on to win the NBA Championship in 1971.
“This bobblehead is the perfect way to celebrate the 1971 Championship team, especially since no bobbleheads were produced at the time to commemorate the team,” said Phil Sklar, Co-Founder and CEO of the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum. “With the holidays coming up, thesewill make great gifts for any Bucks fan.”
