MILWAUKEE, Wi.,October 20, 2017 –This morning, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museumunveiled the first bobblehead featuring Aaron Judge in his Fresno State Bulldogs uniform. Judge played three years for the Bulldogs before being drafted by the New York Yankees in the 1st round of the 2013 MLB Draft. In 2011, Judge was named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American after batting .358, and he was named a first-team all-conference player in each of his three years.
The limited edition bobbleheads are expected to arrive in November. The bobbleheads are $40 each with a flat rate shipping charge of $8 per order. The bobbleheads were produced by the Forever Collectibles and are officially licensed.
Judge, who is from Linden, California, was a three-sport star for the Linden High School Lions. He was a pitcher and first baseman for the baseball team, a wide receiver for the football team, and a center for the basketball team. Judge set a school record for touchdowns (17) in football and led the basketball team in points per game. Judge was recruited by several schools including Notre Dame, Stanford and UCLA to play tight end in football, but he opted to play baseball at Fresno State.
In his first major league at-bat on August 13, 2016, Judge hit a home run, but his season ended prematurely with an injury. However, Judge was named their right fielder for the 2017 season and he took the baseball world by storm with his strong performance. Judge broke Joe DiMaggio’s record for most home runs hit in a Yankees’ rookie season when he belted his 30th on July 7. Judge went on to win the 2017 Home Run Derby. On September 25, Judge hit his 49th and 50th home runs, tying and surpassing Mark McGwire’s single season rookie home run record. In October, Judge has made key plays on both offense and defense to help lead the Yankees through the playoffs.
Judge’s tremendous performance and great potential has led to a record number of bobbleheads for a player in their rookie season. In addition to the Fresno State Bobblehead, there is a Yankees Rookie Bobblehead ($35), a 2017 Headline Bobblehead ($30), a 12 inch Special Edition Bobblehead ($60). A three foot Aaron Judge Yankees Bobblehead ($800) is also in the works, with expected delivery in December.
“Watching Aaron Judge burst onto the scenes this year has not only been fun for Yankees fans across the world, but also for Bulldogs fans who were able to watch Judge in college,” said Phil Sklar, Co-Founder and CEO of the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum. “Having this many bobbleheads so soon in a career is unprecedented, but Judge looks like he will be the face of baseball for many years to come. Not many players get a three-foot bobblehead, and Judge is already getting one!”
