San Francisco Giants vs. Oakland Athletics Rivalry Mascot Bobblehead Unveiled

Limited Edition bobblehead commemorating the Bay Bridge Series between the San Francisco Giants and Oakland A’s is now available for purchase exclusively from the National Bobblehead HOF.
MILWAUKEE, Wi., July 20, 2018 – – Today, the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum unveiled a limited-edition Mascot Rivalry Bobblehead commemorating the Bay Area rivalry between the San Francisco Giants and Oakland Athletics. This is the first bobblehead commemorating the Bay Bridge Series and is being released as the Giants and A’s and their fans prepare for a weekend series between the two teams at the Oakland Coliseum.
The bobbleheads, which are individually numbered to just 1,000, are only available in the National Bobblehead HOF and Museum’s Online Store. They cost $75 each plus a flat rate shipping charge of $8 per order and were produced exclusively for the National Bobblehead HOF by FOCO.
The bobblehead features Giants mascot, Lou Seal, and A’s mascot, Stomper, facing each other with their fists up. The Bay Bridge Series, or the Battle of the Bay, takes its name from the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge which links the cities of Oakland and San Francisco. Prior to this weekend’s series, the two teams have met 117 times since the start of interleague play in 1997, with the A’s holding a 61-56 advantage. The A’s and Giants rivalry is generally considered to be a friendly one with mostly mutual companionship between the fans, as opposed to other area rivalries like the Cubs vs. Sox and Mets vs. Yankees inter-city rivalries.
The San Francisco Giants and Oakland Athletics met for the first time in the 1989 World Series, which is remembered by the nation for the 7.1 magnitude earthquake that shook the region minutes before Game 3 on October 17, 1989. The resulting emotional, physical and economic damage delayed the World Series for 10 days. Experts credited the World Series for saving countless lives, as many would-be commuters left work early or stayed in place to watch the game.
“This bobblehead is the perfect way for Bay Area fans to commemorate a great rivaly,” Phil Sklar, Co-Founder and CEO of the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum said. “These will be cherished collectibles that celebrate the region’s great passion for baseball. It is a must have for any die-hard Giants or A’s fan.”
